Short film selected to be shown at film festival
Our short film about the ERC IRMIDYN project has been selected from among 2100 entries to be shown at the Braga Science Film Fest.
New article explores interactions of iron and zinc during mineral transformation in sediments
The article titled "geochemical decoupling of iron and zinc during transformation of Zn-bearing ferrihydrite in reducing sediments" was published by Environmental Science and Technology this week.
ERC IRMIDYN project featured in EU Research Magazine
EU Research, a quarterly magazine for the dissemination of scientific research in Europe, has featured the ERC IRMIDYN project in its latest edition.
Welcome Xiaotong!
We are pleased to welcome Xiaotong Liu to the Soil Chemistry group as a guest student.
Short film selected as finalist for major international film festival
Our short film about the ERC IRMIDYN project has been selected as a finalist for the China Dragon Awards 2024, an event hosted by the China Science Film and Video Association as part of the China International Conference of Science and Education Producers.
New publication examines stability and transformation of jarosite and Al-substituted jarosite in an acid sulfate paddy soil under laboratory and field conditions
The article in Geochimica and Cosmochimica Acta uses 57Fe-labelled jarosite and Al-jarosite to study how jarosite minerals transform in soil. The study demonstrates how the transformation products are dependent on the soil conditions and the pathways of transformation that occur within the soil matrix.
New study shows that coprecipitation with glucuronic acid limits reductive dissolution and transformation of ferrihydrite in an anoxic soil
The new publication in Environmental Science: Processes and Impacts examines the transformations of ferrihydrite and the effects of organic matter.
New publication explores the 'interactions between iron and carbon in permafrost thaw ponds'
The article, recently published in Total Science of the Environment examines how iron influences carbon cycling in permafrost thaw ponds.
New publication explores 'iron oxyhydroxide transformation in a flooded rice paddy field and the effect of adsorbed phosphate'
The new article, produced as part of the ERC IRMIDYN project and published in Environmental Science & Technology, uses results from a field experiment to demonstrate that adsorbed phosphate hinders the transformation of ferrihydrite and lepidocrocite in a rice paddy soil.
