Short film selected for Spotlight on Academics Film Festival

Our short film about the ERC IRMIDYN project has been selected to be shown at the Spotlight on Academics Science Film Festival 2025.

Last year, we released a short film about the ERC IRMIDYN project, titled "Rust in Soils: What happens when microorganisms breathe iron?" Made by independent filmmaker, Marcus Tischner (external page Frisbee Medien, Germany), in collaboration with the IRMIDYN team, the video explains our new approach to study iron mineral transformations in soils and sediments, and shows the IRMIDYN team at work in the laboratory and at one of the field sites in the German Wadden Sea.

After successes being selected for the China Dragon Awards 2024 and Braga Sience Film Fest 2024, the film is now part of the official selection at the Spotlight on Academics Film Festival, which will take place from 6-8 March, 2025, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. This festival curates educational documentary films that are of interest both to educators and the general public. The film will be shown onsite at the festival, and simultaneously strexternal page eamed online. More information about the festival is available on the external page festival website.
