We are very pleased that Joëlle has successfully defended her doctoral thesis in the Soil Chemistry Group. Her thesis, titled "Vivianite formation and transformation processes in intertidal sediments and the influence of isomorphic substitution" was well received by the examination committee. At the defence, Joëlle presented her impressive work to the examiners and an audience of colleagues, family and friends, before enjoying a fun evening of celebrations.

Joëlle is pictured here with a hat made my members of the Soil Chemistry group, and her doctoral examination committee, from left to right: Dr Peter Kraal (Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research, external examiner), Prof. Dr Ruben Kretzschmar (main supervisor), Prof. Dr Laurel ThomasArrigo (now at the University of Neuchatel, co-supervisor), and A/Prof. Dr Thilo Behrends (Utrecht University, doctoral committee member).

We are all excited to see where Joëlle's research takes her next!
