Wadden Sea Field Trip
Members of the ERC IRMIDYN team have returned to field sites along the Elbe estuary, northern Germany, to conduct a new round of field experiments.
Following on from the successful field trips to the Wadden Sea in recent years, members of the ERC IRMIDYN team have returned this summer to conduct a new round of experiments in the tidal flats of the Wadden Sea. Led in the field by Kath Rothwell, the team has been conducting experiments on iron mineral transformations, with a focus on siderite and iron bearing clay minerals. Our guest professor, Angelia Seyfferth, joined the team and we discussed applications of iron oxide coated films to document sulfidisation. We have also had an opportunity to produce footage for an outreach film about the IRMIDYN project with professional filmmaker, external page Markus Tischner.
