Field Trip to the Wadden Sea
The second field trip as part of the ERC-IRMIDYN took group members to the Wadden Sea in Germany.
The second field trip for the ERC-IRMIDYN project saw a team of Laurel, Joëlle, Giulia, Ruben and Kath (left to right in photo) spend 10 days at the Wadden Sea and in Northern Germany. During this initial visit, the team scoped out 12 potential sampling sites for Watt sediments along the estuarine salinity gradient, to identify a small number of sites to be used for further experiments. The team members are hugely grateful to the local support of Martin Stock (Nationalpark Schleswig-Holsteinisches Wattenmeer), Karen Kiehn & Peter Körber (Behörde für Umwelt und Energie der Freien und Hansestadt Hamburg) and Uwe Helbing (NABU-Group Wedel) and are looking forward to future field trips.
